4.1 COMMISSIONING THE BOILER
It is essential that the commissioning procedures listed below are carried out by a Fulton service
engineer who will have the necessary experience and testing equipment to ensure that the
installation is not only correct but is operating safely and at optimum efficiency.
Flue Commissioning
Pr
ior to initial firing of the boiler, the flue must be checked for leaks.
This is done by the following method:
a) Visual Inspection
Ch
eck joints between all flue sections for quality of seals. Where the flue passes through t
he
structure of the building use your judgement as to the integrity of this section of the flue.
If this test fails or at any time during boiler operation, there is doubt about the integrity of the flue,
shut
down the boiler and contact Fulton Ltd immediately.
Note: Fl
ues that are designed to operate with positive pressure should be tested to the latest regulations.
4.1.2 BOILER INSPECTION AND INITIAL FIRING GAS BURNER
1.
Ensure that the boiler has been washed out after installation. It is advisable to conduct a water
anal
ysis before operating the boiler.
2.
Ensure that all wiring connections are correct and that all terminal screws are tight.
3.
Open all of the valves in the feedwater line. Close the isolating valve on the discharge side of
the feedwater pump. Remove the priming plug from the pump head and displace all air from
the pump. Replace the priming plug and tighten securely.
4.
Check the correct rotation of the feedwater pump on the motor fan
cover. Start the feedwater pump and check the direction of rotation.
5.
Check correct rotation of feedwater pump. Viewing through pump motor
fan cowl.
