Why Furuno FA Marine Radar has poor sensitivity even when tuned?
- DDiane JohnsonAug 25, 2025
If the Furuno Marine Radar exhibits poor sensitivity despite proper tuning, the possible causes are: a deteriorated magnetron, a detuned MIC, dirt on the radiator face, water ingress to the waveguide or other feeder line, or the second trace echo rejection being ON. To resolve this, you can: 1. Check magnetron current while transmitting on 48 nm range, and replace the magnetron if the current is below normal. 2. Check MIC detecting current and tune the MIC if it is below the normal value. 3. Clean the radiator surface. 4. Remove water from the feeder line. 5. Disable the second-trace echo rejector.
