Steam Generator Assembly
WARNING: The steam generator assembly is NOT
grounded and may present a risk of electric shock
during servicing. Disconnect electric power prior to
servicing.
The steam generator assembly is available as an
assembly only. The assembly includes: a heating
element, water pan, safety thermostat (428°F),
cycling thermostat (235°F), and the water-tight
housing.
The gas dryer generator is a 500W unit and the
electric dryer generator is a 1000W unit.
To remove the steam generator assembly:
Caution: To avoid marring the control panel, place
the panel face down on a protective surface.
Remove the control and top panels. (See 1.

Panel and Top Panel.)
Remove the wire tie from the left side of the 2.
front shield.
Remove the 2 Phillips-head screws (1 on each 3.
side) from the shield.
Functional Operation
Line voltage is applied through the control relay 1.
K9 to tab J20 on the power control board.
The steam generator calrod is energized.2.
The timer is bypassed by the 230°F thermostat.3.
The water valve will not turn on while the timer 4.
is bypassed.

The 230°F thermostat reaches set point 5.
temperature and opens the contacts.
The timer is set and starts the 4-second timing.6.
This energizes the water valve and starts the 7.
2-1/4 ounce fi ll of the steam generator water
reservoir.
The water fi lls until the 230°F thermostat resets 8.
or the 4-second timer stops, completing one
cycle.
When the 230°F thermostat rests, the cycle 9.
repeats.
