9320 Reference Controller Operating Manual 24 (52)
Selecting the SAM monitor system is done using the four GROUP keys. This requires the GLM GROUP
settings to be configured and the GLM software to be running.
When the 9320 is used without GLM software and computer, the output can be selected using the keys
for the headphone, ANALOG or DIGITAL output. This turns on the selected output.
The 9320 can be selected to use fixed level line output in analogue and digital audio formats, or the
output level can be set to be adjustable. This selection is done as a part of the 9320 configuration in the
GLM software.
If the outputs have been configured to be at fixed level then the level is controlled by GLM software in
the SAM monitors, and the 9320 will control the output level in SAM monitors. This mode requires the
use of GLM software and GLM network management. When 9320 is used in stand-alone mode and this
mode is selected the SAM monitors will mute and not play any audio as the GLM software is then
sending the level commands to the monitors.
The adjusted output mode is intended for monitor loudspeakers other than the SAM monitors. Then the
output level in 9320 is adjusted according to the level setting. This mode is available both for the
analogue output and the AES/EBU digital output. The heapdhone output is always adjusted locally in
9320A. This mode may also be useful for other application where control of level at the 9320 is useful,
such as when connecting digital sources, such as a DVD player, to digital inputs on reproduction devices
offering no level control, such as a TV set, digital line inputs on amplifiers and similar.
Lights on the GROUP and BASS M turn off when the 9320 is not connected to the GLM software, and
these functions are not available.
