9320 Reference Controller Operating Manual 34 (52)
Analogue and digital output selections (options are “GLM (fixed)” and “Adjustable”) select the
method of implementing the level control for the analogue line output and digital AES/EBU
output – in 9320 the level is set using the knob and this field selects hos the level setting is
implemented.

When the “GLM (fixed)” is selected and the GLM management network cable is connected to all SAM
monitors and subwoofers, the level is adjusted inside the SAM devices; this is ideal as the signal level
going to the monitors and subwoofers can be maintained high for the highest audio quality.
When the “Adjustable” is selected, the 9320 adjusts the audio level at the analogue or AES output. This
method can be used with all devices that do not use the GLM management network.
Please note that when the GLM network cable is connected while you select the “Adjustable” option for
the level control, automatically mutes all SAM monitors and subwoofers. This happens because this
selection does not send the level control information over the GLM management network.
WARNING
When you are using loudspeakers that do not use the GLM management, avoid using the “SAM” level
control settings as in this mode the output level from the 9320 is very high, in order to ensure the best
possible audio quality, and this can results in excessive audio level which may be dangerous to your
hearing.
