via a simple XML file. To download the configuration as an XML file, just click the
Download Main XML link on this Configurator page.
To restore a Comander's settings from an XML file, use the Browse button to locate the
file on your computer, then click Open to upload it.
2.4.4 Firmware Management
You can make a backup copy of the Comander Rack unit's current firmware by right-
clicking the Get Firmware link on this page.
Occasionally Geoquip may issue a firmware upgrade for the Comander Rack. This will
be supplied in the form of a binary file, which you can upload to the unit using the
Upload option on this page.
Updating the Firmware will not normally alter any of the system
settings, or revert the unit to its factory settings – but you should
still ensure that configuration settings are backed up using the
Backup feature described in the previous paragraph.
2.4.5 Factory Default Settings
You can use this function to reset a Comander Rack unit back to its factory settings,
including resetting the Configurator login password to its default setting of 1234.
This page also includes an option to retain the current network settings, comprising the
unit IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. If you want to access the unit via
the web Configurator immediately after resetting it, you must choose this option.
If you execute a factory reset WITHOUT retaining the network settings, the IP address
will revert to the factory default of 0.0.0.0, making the Configurator inaccessible. You
will then need to use the DIGI Discovery program to allocate an IP address to the
Comander Rack before you can access its Configurator again – see section 7 below.
2.4.6 View Auto-SMS
The Auto-SMS system is a sophisticated and versatile mechanism for programming
the Comander Rack to give specific responses to input events. Syntactically similar to
XML, it is effectively a complete programming language.
Because it is possible to use the Comander's Auto-SMS features to configure
automatic control of specific outputs by individual inputs, or by more complex rules
relating to combinations of inputs, Auto-SMS provides a powerful way to achieve
complex functionality automatically, and may in some cases make it unnecessary to
have an SMS computer.
The Configurator page gives a basic guide to the Auto-SMS programming syntax, and
the Programmed Rules section at the bottom indicates any Auto-SMS functionality
which is currently operating on the unit. The XML Script Uploading section below it
provides an upload mechanism for programming the Auto-SMS system with a new
script file, which may in some circumstances be provided to you by Geoquip or other
engineers.
Geoquip recommend that you only try to use the Auto-SMS
feature if you have received the relevant training. Please contact
your Geoquip if you would like to find out more about this
feature.
2.4.7 System Information / Queue
This page displays status information about the Comander Rack unit.
The section titled Local Comander Rack Event Log/Queue displays a list of the last
