5.3 Installing Interceptor Cable
5.3.1 Chain-Link Fencing
The optimum height for mounting the cable is 1m above the ground level, giving the
best detection of a cut-through attack. The sensor should be fixed to the fence every
200mm maximum in order to ensure a good contact ...

Place the GQTY1 cable-ties around the natural depression formed by the links of the
fence where they fold over each other, with a tie at each third crossing to achieve
200mm spacing. Do NOT tie the cable to the fence’s straining wire - this will result in a
poor contact between the fence and the sensor.
After tightening, cut off the ends of the ties to 6mm - this short length will be enough to
allow re-tensioning at a later date.
5.3.1.1 Looping Around Posts
With looser fence types like chain-link, there is sufficient movement of the fence fabric
in adverse weather conditions to create an unacceptable level of nuisance alarms if the
cable is allowed to make contact with the posts. There is also a danger of damage to
the cable if it rubs against the posts over a long period, especially if they are of a rough
material such as concrete.
