Security Certificate installed at the factory, but the type of certificate, and the process
by which it is verified (or not) by your browser, depends on how the system was
factory-configured.
In some cases, each Rack will already be configured with a certificate issued by a
Certificate Authority which your browser already trusts. In this scenario, the login
should proceed without any alert messages.
In other cases, your browser will display an alert message saying that the site or
certificate is not trusted. Most browsers recommend that you do not proceed in this
situation. If you see this message, you should choose to proceed anyway, and (unless
you intend to install a new security certificate on the Rack) you should choose to store
this certificate or security exception permanently. The exact wording and steps
required to do this depend on which browser you are using.
For more information about using security certificates in a Comander system, see
section 2.4.9 below.
2.3.2 Configurator Overview
The Configurator has two main sections: Administration and Configuration. The
Configuration pages have blue title bars which expand when clicked to display different
pages of configuration options for each device which can be configured – this always
includes the local Comander Rack, but may also include other devices, including the
Monitored Contacts attached to the Rack's Marshalling Box.
The local Comander Rack configuration options are listed in the following pages.
When you make changes on any of the pages in the Configurator, you must click the
Apply button at the bottom of the page to save the change. Some changes are
implemented immediately, but some require a system reboot – reboots are not
executed automatically, so when a page indicates that a reboot is required, you must
manually restart the Rack after clicking Apply.
Changes usually take a few seconds to be saved, so after
clicking Apply, before rebooting the Comander or changing any
other settings, you should always wait until you see a
Configurator page which says "Changes have been saved
successfully" at the top.
The Rack can be restarted using the Reboot command in the
Configurator menu, or using the reset switch on the rear panel.
2.4 Comander Administration options
2.4.1 Set Clock
This option allows you to set the real-time clock on the Comander Rack unit. For a full
explanation of time management on a Comander system, see section 1.6 above.
2.4.2 Password Settings
This option allows you to change the login password for the Comander Rack
Configurator. To change the password, simply enter the new password into both
boxes.
Passwords can contain any ASCII alphanumeric characters, or more accurately, any
ASCII character from 32-127 inclusive.
2.4.3 Backup/Restore
All the settings in a Comander's Configuration menu can be backed up and restored
