5.5.3 Junction Box Feeder Cable Connections
In most Comander installations, sensor signals will be
brought back to the Comander Rack Marshalling Box on
twisted-pair feeder cables. (For details of how the feeder
cables are connected inside the Marshalling Box, please
see Section 6 below.)
If single zones are being connected individually, these
feeder cables are connected to the sensor using waterproof
junction boxes where the Alpha Sensor and the feeder are
connected to one terminal block each.
Again, care should be taken to ensure the correct operation
of the microswitch lever when the lid is fitted or removed.
5.5.4 Testing Feeder Connections
When multiple feeder-cable connections are made, it is important to check each
connection as the installation proceeds, as it can be very time-consuming to find one
fault among several daisy-chained connections. The recommended procedure is to
start the installation at the End Of Line and work back towards the Marshalling Box,
using a multimeter to test the integrity of the sensor loop after each new junction box
and length of feeder is connected. For details see section 5.6 below.
5.5.5 Multi-Zone Junction Box Connections
In larger installations, multi-pair feeder cables are often used to bring the sensor
signals from multiple zones back to Marshalling Boxes which are located away from the
perimeter. In order to minimise the labour required, many sensor signals may be
connected using feeder cables of up to as many as twenty pairs running along the
perimeter of the site.

In order to facilitate the inter-connection of these multi-pair cables, Geoquip provide
suitable junction boxes in a number of formats.
