Glossary
Axis
An imaginary line used to describe movement and location on the
cutter table. The cutter uses three axes: C (knife direction), X
(parallel to table length) and Y (parallel to table width). See C-Axis,
X-Axis and Y-Axis.
Beam
Carries and supports the cutter head as it moves along the width and
length of the table surface.
Beam control panel (BCP)
A group of controls attached to the Beam to control the cutter head
and beam.
C-Axis
An imaginary, straight vertical line that the knife rotates around.
Cut file
A computer data file that tells the GERBERcutter how to cut
patterns, or markers, from a spread of material. See Marker.
Default
A setting made at the factory. This setting is used until a supervisor
overrides it with a different setting.
Dry haul
The distance the knife moves above the material.
Dry run
A test where the cutter simulates all cut and punch functions of a
marker but does not plunge the knife or cut material.
Emergency stop (E-Stop)
A red switch or yellow paddle that, when pushed, immediately stops
all cutter movement.
