Ropes must be discarded after reaching a certain age or completing a certain number of runs (whichever
comes first). Every change of direction must be counted as a complete run.
The rope manual indicates a maximum of 10 years before replacement (see reference table)
For all details on use, maintenance and discard criteria of polyurethane-coated ropes, refer to the rope
operation and maintenance manual (version 0818 or later)

FRICTION TEST
1. Preliminary operations
i. GLT Omega
1. Lock the pin of the speed governor parking coil in the open position.
2. Disable the position control of the speed governor pin (A3).
2. Operating instructions
i. §6.3.3.a
1. Empty cabin
2. Call the elevator to the extreme lower floor
3. Make a call to the far upper floor
4. After half of the stroke has passed, switch off the main controller (open the power
switch).
ii. §6.3.3.b
1. Load the cabin with the rated load
2. Call the elevator to the extreme upper floor
3. Make a call to the lower extreme floor
4. After half of the stroke has passed, switch off the main controller (open the power
switch).
FRICTION IN CONDITION OF LOCKED COUNTERWEIGHT OR CAR CABIN
1. with reference to clause 5.5.3.c).2) of EN 81.20, in case of a cab or counterweight locked on the supports
(shock absorbers), the machine shall be stopped by an electrical safety device in accordance with 5.11.2.
This device consists of the lower and upper overtravel contacts that remain open when the cab or
counterweight is locked on the supports in the extreme positions.
