Power Supply Failure
Fixed Power Module Failure
The S5500-28C-EI/S5500-52C-EI/S5500-28C-PWR-EI/S5500-52C-PWR-EI/S5500-28C-EI-DC use
fixed power modules.
z Each of the S5500-28C-EI, S5500-52C-EI, S5500-28C-PWR-EI and S5500-52C-PWR-EI has
three input modes, namely, AC input, RPS input and both.
z Each S5500-28C-EI-DC has three input modes, namely, -48V DC input, RPS input and both.
You can check whether the power system of the switch fails by viewing the system status LED (PWR)
and RPS status LED (RPS) on the front panel of the switch. For details, refer to
Table 6-1.
Table 6-1 Fixed power module failure LEDs description
LED Mark Status Description
System status LED PWR Off The switch is powered off.
Steady yellow
The RPS input is normal, but the AC input fails or
is not connected.
RPS status LED
(S5500-28C-EI and
S5500-52C-EI)
RPS
Off RPS is not connected.
Steady yellow
The RPS input is normal, but the -48V DC input
fails or is not connected.
RPS status LED
(S5500-28C-EI-DC)
RPS
Off RPS is not connected.
Steady yellow
The RPS input is normal, but the AC input fails or
is not connected.
RPS status LED
(S5500-28C-PWR-EI
and
S5500-52C-PWR-EI)
RPS
Off The RPS input is abnormal.
AC input/-48V DC input
If the system status LED is off, an AC/-48V DC input failure occurs. Then do the following:
z Check whether the power cord is well connected to the switch, whether the AC/-48V DC receptacle
on the switch and the AC/-48V DC power socket are faulty.
z Check whether the external AC/-48V DC power supply system is normal.
z Check whether the operating temperature of the switch is normal, and whether good ventilation is
provided to the power supply (the power module may stop working and enter the protection state
due to over-temperature).
RPS input
If the system status LED or RPS status LED is off, an RPS input failure occurs. Then do the following:
z Check whether the switch is well connected to the external RPS power supply.
z Check whether the external RPS power supply works normally.
z Check whether the operating temperature of the switch is normal, and whether good ventilation is
provided to the power supply (the power module may stop working and enter the protection state
due to over-temperature).
