4.3.2 Suspension
A suspension fork improves the floor contact and the
comfort by providing suspension.

The suspension prevents an impact, e.g. caused by a
stone lying in the way, from being directed directly into
the rider's body via a fork. Instead, it is absorbed by
the suspension system. This causes the suspension
fork to compress. The compression can be disabled so
that a suspension fork reacts like a rigid fork.
