MAINTENANCE SAFETY
This section includes instructions on some
important maintenance tasks. You can
perform some of these tasks with the tools
provided (if you have basic mechanical skills).
Other tasks that are more difficult and require
special tools are best performed by
professionals. Wheel removal should normally
be handled only by a Hero MotoCorp skilled
technician or other qualified technician;
instructions are included in this manual only to
assist in emergency service.
You will come across some of the most
important safety precautions in the following
pages of this manual.
However, we cannot warn you of every
conceivable hazard that can arise in
performing maintenance. Only you can decide
whether or not you should perform a given
task.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
î Make sure the engine is “OFF” before you
begin any maintenance or repair. This will
help to eliminate several potential hazards:
· Carbon monoxide poisoning from
engine exhaust.
Be sure there is adequate ventilation
whenever you operate the engine.
· Burns from hot parts.
Let the engine and exhaust system cool
before touching.
· Injury from moving parts.
Do not run the engine unless instructed
to do so.
î Read the instruction before you begin and
make sure you have the tools and skills
required.
î To help prevent the motorcycle from
falling over, park it on a firm, level surface
on the main stand.
î To reduce the possibility of a fire or
explosion, be careful when working around
petrol or batteries. Use only nonflammable
solvent, not petrol, to clean parts. Keep
cigarettes, sparks and flames away from
the battery and all fuel-related parts.
Remember that your Authorised Distributor/
Dealer knows your motorcycle best and is
fully equipped to maintain and repair it.
