NOTE
The checking or adjusting of valve clearance
should be performed while the engine is cold.
The clearance will change as the engine
temperature rises.
Ÿ Remove the cylinder head cover (1) by
removing the bolts (2).
Ÿ Remove the fuel tank.

Ÿ Remove the timing hole cap (3). Rotate the
cam sprocket (6) clockwise using the
special tool (7) until the ‘T’ mark (4) on the
flywheel coincides with the index mark (5)
on the left crankcase cover. In this position,
the piston will either be on the compression
or exhaust stroke.
