Function Procedure
Trendelenburg Make sure Trendelenburg and Reverse Trendelenburg operate cor-
rectly.
Lockout controls Make sure each lockout operates correctly.
Brake and steer
(option)
Make sure the brake and steer functions operate correctly. Replace
the caster if necessary.
Individual brake
caster
Make sure the brake operates correctly. Replace the caster if neces-
sary.
Individual
brake/steer caster
Make sure the brake and steer functions operate correctly. Replace
the caster if necessary.
Caster tires Examine the caster tires for cuts and wear. Replace the caster if nec-
essary.
Siderail controls Make sure the switches in the siderails operate correctly.
Siderail Examine the siderail, and make sure it latches correctly and is not
loose. Adjust if necessary.
Pivot points Lubricate all pivot points on the bed.
Power cord and con-
nector
Examine the plug for damage. Make sure the plug is a one-piece
molded plug assembly. If it is not, replace the plug cord assembly.
Replace any plug cord assembly that exhibits any of these:
Discoloration of the plug molding around the plug
blades, which is a possible indication of
overheating or arcing of the plug blades.
Any signs of cracking; this is an indication that the
plug has been bent and straightened to a point past
its useful life.
Loose fit of the plug blade; if the plug blade moves
in the molding, this is an indication that the
molding may have overheated or blades have been
bent and straightened to a point past its useful life.
Replace the power cord, if damaged.
Headboard and foot-
board
Examine the headboard and footboard for looseness and general
appearance.
CPR release Make sure the CPR release operates correctly (electric model only).
