Connecting the instrument to a computer with a LAN cable
Connect the instrument and PC with a LAN cable.
There are two ways to accomplish this connection:
Connect the instrument to an existing network.
Connect the instrument to a single PC (p.128)
Connecting the Instrument to a Network
1 Connect a LAN cable (that is compatible
with 100BASE-TX) to the 100BASE-TX
connector on the right side of the instru-
ment.
2 Connect the LAN cable to the PC.
Green LED
Lights up when a link is
established and flashes
when communications
are in progress.
Orange LED
Lights up when the communica-
tions speed is 100 Mbps and
turns off when the communica-
tions speed is 10 Mbps.
If the green LED fails to light up when the instrument is connected to a LAN, there may be an issue with the
instrument, the target device, or the connection cable.

You can monitor and control the
instrument from a PC by con-
necting the instrument to a hub
with LAN cable (100BASE-TX
cable).
Connection cable: Use one of the following.
100BASE-TX straight-through cable (maximum length 100
m, commercially available)
(10BASE-T cable may also be used for 10BASE communi-
cations)
Model 9642 LAN cable (option)
Connect to hub
Instrument’s 100Base-TX connector
