STORAGE
Engine Oil
1. Change the engine oil (p. 79).
2. Remove the spark plugs (p. 81),
and remove the emergency stop
switch clip from the emergency
stop switch.
3. Pour 1 – 2 teaspoons (5 – 10 cm
3
)
(p. 114) of clean engine oil into
each cylinder.
4. Using the emergency starter rope
(p. 55), rotate the flywheel a few
revolutions to distribute the oil in
the cylinders.
5. Reinstall the spark plugs (p. 82).
HOISTING THE OUTBOARD
MOTOR
1. Unlatch and remove the engine
cover (p. 76).
2. Attach the hoist hook to the lifting
eye.
3. Disconnect the outboard motor
from the boat, hoist the outboard
motor, and move it to the storage
area.
4. After the outboard motor is placed
in storage and disconnected from
the hoist, install the engine cover.
STORAGE PRECAUTIONS
Select a well-ventilated storage area.
If possible, avoid storage areas with
high humidity.
If storing a container of gasoline,
such as the portable fuel tank
(standard or optional equipment),
store it away from any appliance that
operates with a flame, such as a
furnace, water heater, or clothes
dryer. Also avoid any area with a
spark producing electric motor, or
where power tools are operated.
