Specifying the MD source interface
The MTI uses the IP address of the MD source interface as the source address to encapsulate the VPN
multicast packets. The IP address of the MD source interface must be the same as the source address used
for establishing BGP peer relationship. Otherwise, correct routing information cannot be obtained.
Perform the following configuration on the PE.
To specify the MD source interface:

Configuring MDT switchover parameters
To avoid frequent switching of multicast traffic between the default-MDT and the data-MDT, you can
specify a data-delay period and a data-holddown period.
• MDT switchover does not take place immediately after the source-side PE receives the first multicast
packet of the VPN that has passed the ACL rule filtering. Instead, the PE starts a data delay timer.
If it keeps receiving multicast packets for the VPN before the timer expires, a switchover to data-MDT
takes place. Otherwise, the default-MDT is still used for multicast forwarding.
• Likewise, a backward switching does not take place immediately after the source-side PE stops
receiving the multicast packet of the VPN. Instead, the PE starts a data holddown timer. If it does not
receive any multicast packets of the VPN before the timer expires, a switchover to default-MDT takes
place. Otherwise, the data-MDT is still used for multicast forwarding.
Perform the following configuration on the PE.
