To do curve fitting and forecasting:
1. Prepare a SUM number list for the x-values. Give the list a name .
If necessary, refer to chapter 7 for instructions for creating, nam-
ing, and switching number lists.
2. Prepare a SUM number list for the y-values. Naming this list is
optional.
3. From the SUM menu (with the y-value list displayed) press
IIIDI to display the CALC menu, then press 1IIiIDI .
4. Press .... . The HP-18C displays a menu containing a label for
each named SUM list in memory. If necessary, press IIIiIDI to see
all the list names.
5. Press the menu key menu for the list containing the x-values.
The HP-18C displays the FRCST menu.
6. Press the menu key for the model you want to use. The HP-18C
displays the curve fitting menu (refer to table 6-3).
7. To display the curve fitting results, press 1IiIiJD , .. ' and/or
.. (refer to table 6-3).
8. To do forecasting calculations:
1. Key in a value and press the menu key for the known
value- EI!IID or .. .
2. Press the menu key for the value you are forecasting.
