6. Store the removed card in antistatic packaging.
7. If you are not installing a new expansion card, install an expansion slot cover to close the open slot.
IMPORTANT: After removing an expansion card, you must replace it with a new card or expansion
slot cover for proper cooling of internal components during operation.
8. After installing an expansion card, connect external cables to the installed card and internal cables
to the system board, if needed.
9. Reassemble and reconfigure the computer, if necessary.
Fan hood
To remove the fan hood, use these procedures.
Before removing the fan hood, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 22).
2. Remove the access panel (see Access panel on page 23).
3. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 25).
4. Remove the front bezel (see Front bezel on page 26).
Remove the fan hood:
1. Swing the fan hood (1) up and back.
2. Slide the fan hood forward (2) to detach the clips from the tabs that are built into the rear chassis.
3. Remove the fan hood (3).
To install the fan hood, reverse the removal procedure.
