o Check if the door is obstructed for any
reason (labels fallen off tapes, etc). Remove
any obstruction if possible.
o If the door opens smoothly when lifted,
there is no obstruction preventing the media
from ejecting, and the tape is visible, try
removing the tape by gently pulling it out of
the drive by hand.
If the tape ejects, inspect the media and discard if
faulty or damaged. Check for the following:
o Incorrect label placement.
o Damage.
o Usage in incorrect environment.
o Snapped/damaged tape.

If the tape ejected, use the Read/Write test and the
Device Analysis test in L&TT with new media to check
that the drive is now working normally.
NOTE:
Due to issues in development Library and Tape
Tools cannot be reliably used to diagnose
potential issues with the DAT 40 Hotplug drive
(Q1546A only). This problem is currently being
investigated and will be corrected in the next
revision of Library and Tape tools. This note
will be updated once the problem has been
corrected but until then do not use Library and
Tape Tools to diagnose issues with this
