Note:
z The standard equipping package of the Eudemon200 firewall has included the interface cables for the
fixed Ethernet ports.
z When preparing network cables, please use shielded twisted-pair (STP) cables so long they are
available for the sake of electromagnetic compatibility.
III. Connect Ethernet cable
Caution:
z You must connect a cable to the interface with the appropriate mark. Misplugging is prone to impair the
interface card and even damage the equipment mainframe.
z When connecting to a LAN Switch, insert the cable to the 10/100BASE-TX port identified by MDIX.
Follow these steps to connect an Ethernet cable, to the 10/100Base-TX port on the
RPU for example.
Step 1: Choose the Ethernet cable.
z Use a crossover cable to connect the Eudemon200 firewall to a PC by connecting
one end of the cable to the Ethernet port on the Eudemon200 and the other end to
the PC.
z Use a straight-through cable to connect the Eudemon200 to a HUB or LAN Switch
by connecting one end of the cable to the Ethernet port on the Eudemon200 and
the other end to the HUB or the LAN Switch.
Step 2: Connect one end of the network cable to the fixed LAN port of Eudemon200.
Step 3: If the network cable is a straight-through cable, connect the other end of it to
the Ethernet port of a HUB or a LAN Switch.
3.7 Connect the Eudemon200 to WAN
The Eudemon200 firewall provides various WAN interfaces and the one provided by
the RPU is AUX interface, the connection of which will be described in details in the
upcoming subsections. For the connection of the WAN interface on an interface module,
refer to the relevant contents in “Chapter 7 Interface Module”.
