Programmable Logic Control (2100 v2.7 Software)
NOTE: The PLC is equipped with a lithium battery to keep the program stored while the power is shut down. The battery
will need to be replaced every 3 to 5 years, depending on usage. A visual warning will be displayed on the interface when
the battery drains to a certain level. Batteries can be purchased through your Hyd·Mech Group Limited Distributor.
The programmable logic controller (PLC) uses signals from limit switches, control panel switches, an encoder (rotary shaft
or linear) and information that is programmed into it, to supply accurate automatic length control and sawing functions.
The inputs used include:
• Control Panel Switches
• Operator Interface Keys
• Head Down Limit Switch
• Head Position / Feed Rate Encoder
• Shuttle Position Encoder
• Out of Stock Limit Switch
• Blade Speed Proximity Switch
• Blade Door and Guard Interlock Switches
An encoder is attached to the shuttle assembly and travels with the shuttle to provide length information to the PLC. A
proximity switch is mounted behind the idler wheel, provides blade speed input to the PLC.
The programmed information includes logic put into the PLC by its manufacturer, as well as information programmed in,
through the keypad, by the assembly plant. Information from the assembly plant is referred to as the parameters. The pa-
rameters are important for the PLC to provide accurate sawing lengths and blade speed display. Following is a description
of each parameter and the procedure to access them.
PLC Parameters are a table of normally xed values what can be modied to adjust the way in which the machine oper-
ates.
To gain access to the Parameters, either to observe the current settings, or to make changes:
• In Manual Mode, with the Front Vise closed.
• Press the Fwd and Rev Keys simultaneously (no more than 0.5 sec apart).
• The Display will prompt for a password that is available from the Hyd-Mech Service Department.
• When the correct password is entered, the Display will show the rst two lines of the Parameter Table
• Use the Up / Down Navigation Keys to move up and down through the table.
• Use the Left / Right navigation Keys to move the cursor to the Entry Position (on the right end of each parameter
line).
• Use the Enter Key to toggle between Yes / No or On / Off type parameter settings.
• Use Number Keys to overwrite Numerical Parameters, and then the Enter Key to enter the new parameter value.
The following table lists and explains the PLC Parameters used with this software.
