2.2 Extension unit (PIO/SIO/SCON extension unit, PIO unit)
2.2.1 Overview
In the extension units, there are three types, PIO/SIO/SCON Extension Unit, PIO Unit and
SCON Extension Unit and they are equipped with connectors stated in the table below.
For PIO/SIO/SCON Extension Unit and SCON Extension Unit, either one of them is available to
be connected to one unit of RCON-LC System, and PIO Unit is available to be connected for
eight units at the maximum including PIO/SIO/SCON Extension Unit (input 126 points and
output 126 points). Connect necessary number of units considering the purpose of use.
In this section, describes PIO/SIO/SCON Extension Unit and PIO Unit not described in RON
System Instruction Manual. For details of SCON Extension Unit, refer to “Specification Edition
Chapter 6 SCON Connection Unit” in RCON System Instruction Manual (ME0384).
[PIO/SIO/SCN Extension Unit]
PIO/SIO/SCON Extension Unit is equipped with the following three types of connectors.
1) SCON Connector (Connector to establish connectivity to SCON-CB Controller)
2) PIO Connector (Parallel I/O Connector with 16 points of input and 16 points of output)
3) SIO Connector (RS485 serial communication connector)
PIO/SIO/SCON Extension Unit should be used connecting on the right side of LC Unit.
[PIO Unit]
PIO Unit is equipped with a PIO connector (parallel I/O Connector with 16 points of input and 16
points of output).
