Chapter 8. Software stack 225
Figure 8-4 Traditional Storage approach versus GPFS Storage Server
The GPFS Storage Server includes the following main features:
򐂰 Two base configurations: Model 24 (four JBODs) and Model 26 (six JBODs).
They allow an easy configuration of a high-performance storage solution that
can be attached to the IBM NeXtScale system through InfiniBand or Ethernet
networks.
򐂰 Scalable building block approach. The two basic configurations are scalable
to large storage configurations by using them as building blocks. The final
storage system benefits from the aggregated performance of its building
blocks.
򐂰 2 TB and 3 TB drives are available that provide an enormous storage capacity
with the high-density enclosures.
