Why is there no sound coming from my Icom IC-M601 speaker?

  If you are not getting any sound from the speaker, there could be several reasons. The squelch level might be set too high, in which case you should adjust the squelch to the threshold point. Alternatively, the volume level may be too low, so adjust the [VOL] to a suitable level. Also, if the speaker has been exposed to water, drain the water from it. Finally, check if the internal speaker is turned off and, if so, turn it on in set mode.

  If your device won't transmit or allow you to select high power, it may be because you are on a channel that is designated for low power or receive-only; try changing channels. Another possibility is that the output power is currently set to low. In that case, push [H/L] to select high power.

  If a distress call cannot be transmitted, the MMSI (DSC self ID) code may not be programmed. Program the MMSI (DSC self ID) code into the transceiver.

  If the scan function does not start, it could be that no channel is programmed as a “TAG” channel. Set the desired channels as “TAG” channels to resolve this issue.
