Collision Mitigation
The 3400 and 6800 Retrofit Series systems are equipped with the Collision Mitigation
feature to help reduce accidental equipment and specimen damage. Collision Mitigation
enables the retrofit system to continually monitor force during jog and return operations,
and will automatically stop the crosshead movement if an unexpected force is detected.
• On most retrofitted frames, when paired with the system’s matching capacity load
cell, Collision Mitigation can protect the system from colliding with rigid surfaces at
speeds up to 600 mm/min. Although Collision Mitigation is enabled on 4464/5564,
4481/5581 retrofitted frames, while traveling at 600 mm/min, forces may exceed
the maximum stated capacity of the load cell due to mechanical characteristics of
the frames.
• Collision Mitigation is intended to mitigate damage to the equipment.
• Collision Mitigation is not safety rated, nor safety intended.
Ingress Protection
To comply with relevant safety and machinery design standards, all aspects of the
testing system have been designed to meet an ingress protection rating of at least IP 2X.
The testing system is designed for indoor use only, away from wet areas.
