Chapter 2 — Configuring the PW50
18 PW50 Workboard Printer User Guide
Configuring the PW50
To change the PW50 configuration settings, you must send
commands from a host PC directly to the PW50 using a
communications application and a serial connection.
To configure the PW50
1 Set up serial communications between the PW50 and your host
PC. For help, see “Setting Up Serial Communications” on
page 20.
2 On your host PC, open a communications application, such as
HyperTerminal.
3 Send ESC/P commands from your host PC to the PW50.
For more information on how to change configuration settings, see
the ESC/P Programmer’s Reference Manual.
Establishing Communications With a Host
The PW50 must establish communications with a host that sends the
data for the printer to print. The PW50 can communicate with a host
using one of these methods:
• Bluetooth radio communications with a CN3, CN3e, CN4, CN4e,
CK61, CK61ex, CN70, or CN70e mobile computer inserted in the
PW50
• Serial communications through a serial cable
Setting Up Bluetooth Communications
The PW50 contains a Bluetooth radio that allows wireless
communications with a remote device from distances up to
100 meters (approximately 328 feet) depending on the Bluetooth
range capabilities of the remote device, environmental conditions,
and obstructions. For the Bluetooth-enabled devices to exchange
data, both devices must establish a connection. Bluetooth software is
always running in the background.
