What to do if my Jandy VS PLUSHP 2.7 HP Water Pump motor won't start?
    • A
      Amy HamiltonAug 3, 2025
First, have a certified professional check the voltage on the main power terminal with the breaker on, ensuring it's within 10% of the motor's rating. Then, power cycle the motor by turning off the main breaker, waiting at least 5 minutes before restoring power. Also, inspect the RS-485 connection, checking for secure connections, corrosion, and any broken wires. Ensure the DIP switches 3 and 4 are in the OFF position. Finally, verify that the motor is scheduled to turn on at the current time according to the controller's settings.

How to test Jandy VS PLUSHP 2.7 HP drive with RS-485 jumper method?
    • M
      morganvincentAug 7, 2025
Using small sections of 22 AWG wire, jump pins 1 to 3 and 2 to 4. Re-install the connector and attach the access cover. Apply power to the motor. The motor should spin at 2600 RPM indefinitely. If the motor works, there is a problem with the RS-485 line or with the controller.

How to configure DIP switches on Jandy VS PLUSHP 2.7 HP?
    • J
      Jessica OrtizAug 11, 2025
The variable speed drive has two DIP switches; 3 and 4. These must both be in the OFF position for Pump 01. This is the configuration for all controllers that are not automation and the first pump for automation. If more than one variable speed pump is being controlled with an automation system, they must be in the proper configuration. Refer to the DIP switch section of the manual to configure the other motors.

Why does my Jandy Water Pump motor start but then shut off?
    • E
      Edwin GarzaAug 15, 2025
Debris might be stuck between the impeller and the diffuser. To resolve this, have a certified professional check if the drive shaft is seized with all power off. You can perform a quick test by inserting a 5/16" allen wrench through the back of the fan housing and into the drive shaft, then manually spin it to check for seizing. If you find large amounts of debris, inspect your strainer basket for any breaks and replace it if needed.

How to fix improper low voltage wiring on Jandy Water Pump?
    • S
      Shawn IngramAug 20, 2025
Ensure the RS-485 connection is secure and free of broken wires. Inspect the low voltage wiring for corrosion; if found, cut off the wires and strip new leads, ensuring no broken wire pieces are inside the RS-485 connector. Also, verify the wiring of the RS-485 connector, ensuring the wire colors for pins 1-4 are Red, Black, Yellow, and Green.

What to do if Jandy Water Pump motor experienced an error?
    • S
      Scott AdamsAug 25, 2025
Power cycle the motor. A fault code may appear on the controller. To clear the error, turn off the main breaker connected to the motor and wait at least 5 minutes before restoring power. Ensure the voltage in the capacitors is completely drained for a proper power cycle.

How to check broken low voltage wiring on Jandy Water Pump?
    • M
      michaelallenAug 29, 2025
With all power off, use a multimeter set to Ohms/Continuity to check the continuity of each low voltage line from the motor side to the controller side. If necessary, replace the RS-485 wires completely.
