15. Adjustment of the Stop-Finger
Tools required: (2.5 mm handle hex tool)
Check: The engagement of the stop-nger and
throat of the bobbin case support basket must have
a clearance of 0.8 mm to 1.0 mm (Figure 14.2). This
clearance ensures that adequate space exists for
thread escapement during the sewing process.
Note: If set with too much needle clearance, the
basket will be noisy and can also more easily slip out
of adjustment. If set too ght, the thread will get
stuck around the stop-nger and may jam
the machine.
If an adjustment is necessary:
Loosen screw A (Figure 15.1) and adjust the stop-
nger so the proper clearance is achieved as shown
in Figure 15.2.
Important: Ensure that the stop-nger stays up ght
against the machined edge at the le of the stop-
nger as shown in Figure 15.1.
Note: This view is from the under side looking up, not
from the top side looking down.
The machined edge helps support the stop-nger
from twisng to the side, allowing the basket to spin
out of posion, be hit by the needle and damaged.
• Tighten screw A.
