Battery
Battery Removal and Replacement

Removal - up to machine no. 1360211
1 Park the machine on a firm level surface and stop the
engine.
2 Remove the engine cover A (if fitted) K Engine
Cover ( T B-1) and move the engine back on its
mounting to gain access K Engine Mounting ( T K-3)
Note: The removal sequence requires two engineers, one
to hold the battery assembly and the other to remove the
securing bolts.
3 Support the weight of the battery tray B and remove
the two securing bolts C.
4 Lower the battery assembly sufficiently to allow the
battery cables to be disconnected. Take care that the
battery connections do not short out on the machine
structure.
5 Disconnect the earth lead D first followed by the
positive lead E.
6 Move the battery assembly away to a bench.
7 Remove wing nuts F and battery strap G.
8 Lift the battery off the tray.
Replacement - up to machine no.
1360211
Replacement is a reversal of the removal sequence with
the following additions.
Note: The replacement sequence requires two engineers,
one to hold the battery assembly and the other to fit the
securing bolts.
1 Do not over tighten wing nuts F.
2 When reconnecting the battery cables, connect the
earth lead D last.
3 When lifting the battery assembly into position take
care that the battery connections do not short out on
the machine structure.
4 Move the engine back to its correct position K Engine
Mounting ( T K-3) and refit the engine cover K Engine
Cover ( T B-1).
