POWERHEAD
ASSEMBLY
Lightly coat both sides of a new cylinder head
gasket with Gasket Sealing Compound. Install the
gasket and cylinder head. Tighten the cylinder
head screws in stages to the final torque of 216 to
240 in. lbs. (24 to 27 N·m), following the sequence
shown. Install the cylinder head screws dry. Do
not use sealant on threads.
Install the thermostat assembly (and temperature
switch, if equipped) in the cylinder head.
Install thermostat cover and O-ring. Torque
screws 60 to 84 in. lbs. (7 to 9 N·m).
Apply Gasket Sealing Compound to both sides of
two new exhaust cover gaskets. Install the inner
and outer exhaust covers. Tighten the screws to a
torque of 95 to 130 in. lbs. (11 to 14 N·m), starting
with the center screws.
Apply Gasket Sealing Compound to both sides of
a new bypass cover gasket. Install bypass cover
and tighten the screws to a torque of 60 to 84 in.
lbs. (7 to 9 N·m), starting with the center screws.
