Adjustment Procedure
Results of Improper Adjustment
Checking items:
  
Tension release actuating bracket
  
Setscrew
  
Thread tension adj. knob
  
Release cam
  
Roll hemming thread tension releasing body
  
Setscrew
  
Knee lifting lever adjustment shaft
  
Nuts
* Lift the presser foot. Set the thread tension adjustment knob at "4". At
this time, check that the lower looper thread tension is released.
* Check to make sure that a clearance between the lower looper thread
tension disks and that between the roll hemming thread tension disks (the
clearance between two disks) are 0.9 mm or more.
* Check to make sure that the clearance between the lower looper thread
tension disks is 0.9 mm or more when lifting the presser foot with the
knee lifting lever.
How to perform adjustment:
Thread tension controller
Loosen the setscrew
of the tension release actuating bracket
.
Move the tension release actuating bracket
left or right to perform
adjustment.
Tighten the setscrew
.
Roll hemming thread tension controller
Bring release cam
to its upper position. Raise the presser foot lifter.
Loosen setscrew
.
Adjust roll hemming tension releasing body
by moving it to the right
and left.
Tighten setscrew
.
After the adjustment, lower the presser foot lifter, bring the release cam
to its lower position, and conrm that the roll hemming thread tension
disks come in close contact with each other.
(If you nd it di󰀩cult to adjust the tension disks so that they come in
close contact with each other, carry out re-adjustment from the adjust-
ment of the thread tension controller.)
Knee lifting lever
Lower the presser foot lifter and bring the knee lifting lever to its highest
position.
Loosen nut
.
Adjust the knee lifting lever by turning knee lifting lever adjustment shaft
.
Tighten nut
.
If the releasing amount of the
disks is inadequate, thick thread
cannot pass between them
smoothly.
