• Replacement power supply or a cover panel for the power supply slot
The power supplies in an EX4100 switch are hot-removable and hot-insertable eld-replaceable units
(FRUs) installed in the rear panel of the switch. If two power supplies are installed, you can remove and
replace them without powering o the switch or disrupng switch funcons.
NOTE: If only one power supply is installed in the switch, you must power o the switch before
removing the power supply.
CAUTION: We recommend that you install either a replacement power supply or a
cover panel in the empty power supply slot to prevent chassis overheang and dust
accumulaon.
To remove a DC power supply from the switch (see Figure 104 on page 190):
1. Place the anstac bag or the anstac mat on a at, stable surface.
2. Aach the ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to the ESD point on the
chassis.
3. Make sure that the voltage across the DC power source cables leads is 0 V and that there is no
chance that the cables might become acve during the removal process.
4. Remove the two screws that aach the terminal connector to the power supply socket.
5. Remove the terminal connector from the power supply unit.
6. Slide the ejector lever toward the le unl the power supply is unseated.
7. Grasp the power supply handle and pull rmly to slide the power supply halfway out of the chassis.
8. Taking care not to touch power supply pins, leads, or solder connecons, place one hand under the
power supply to support it. Grasp the power supply handle with your other hand and pull the
power supply completely out of the chassis.
9. Place the power supply in the anstac bag or on the anstac mat placed on a at, stable surface.
