Using Avionics VOR/ILS Softkeys for N5171B/72B and N5181B/82B with Option 302
Using ILS Localizer Softkeys
To set the ILS Localizer mode to produce a full or partial signal
1. Press Aux Fctn > Avionics > ILS Localizer
2. Press ILS LOC Mode
(Default selection is OFF.)
3. Select either: OFF | NORM | Suppress Left | Suppress Right
These softkeys allow selection of a complete or partial ILS Localizer signal and
can set the ILS Localizer Mode to one of the following:
— Selecting OFF turns off both the Left (90 Hz) and the Right (150 Hz)
ILS Localizer signals. When set to OFF, all ILS Localizer mode parameter
settings are turned off, but the selected ILS Localizer carrier is still present
on the RF Output connector. To turn off this ILS Localizer carrier, set RF On
to off.
— Selecting NORM turns on both the Left (90 Hz) and the Right (150 Hz)
ILS Localizer signals. (See Figure 14-14 on page 365.)
— Selecting Suppress Left turns off the Left (90 Hz) ILS Localizer signal.
(See Figure 14-15 on page 365.)
— Selecting Suppress Right turns off the Right (150 Hz) ILS Localizer signal.
(See Figure 14-16 on page 365.)
Setting the mode back to OFF, after selecting one of the other modes
(either: NORM | Suppress Left | Suppress Right) does not turn off the
ILS Localizer carrier, specified by Carrier Freq Index, it is still present on the
RF Output of the signal generator.
To turn off this ILS Localizer carrier frequency, set RF On to off.
