9.19Adjusting the toe width of rear axle x
Warning
Danger of accidents Modifications to the chassis can seriously alter the vehicle's handling characteristics.
– Following modifications, ride slowly at first to get the feel of the new handling characteristics.
– Engage 1st gear.

– Loosen nuts of the wheel hubs on both sides.
– Jack up the vehicle. ( p. 66)
– Remove the nuts on both sides and take all parts off of the rear axle.
– Check parts for damage and wear. Replace damaged or worn parts.

The left and right toe width should have the same settings.

Setting a narrow toe width:
– Mount the wheel hub .
– Mount the conical ring with the cone facing outward.
– Mount the spacing sleeve with the cone facing inward.
– Mount the washer and the new self-locking nut.
