6. Putting into service
6.1 Preparing the tractor
6.1.1 Drawbar attachment system
Adjust tractor drawbar (1) and/or the spreader clevis
hitch (2) so that the spreader is approximately level.
The top of the drawbar should be 8’’-12’’ below the
tractor PTO shaft (3). Adjust the drawbar
horizontally so that the hitch pin hole is behind the
tractor PTO as specified and the drawbar is
centered and locked in place.
Kuhn does not recommend or authorize PTO
adapters.
6.1.2 Hitch pin
A 1’’ diameter hitch pin with a retainer pin is
recommended for 2044 spreaders.
A 1 5/16’’ diameter hitch pin with a retainer pin is
recommended for 2054 spreaders.
6.1.3 Hydraulic requirements
The hydraulic endgate and the pusher each require
one tractor selective control valve. The tractor
hydraulic system should be capable of producing
2000 PSI at 15 gallons per minute (GPM) for all
models.
The minimum tractor weight should be no
less than 2/3 of spreader gross weight.
