6.3.4 Driveline attachment
To attach tractor end of the driveline, pull the locking
collar (A) back and simultaneously push the
driveline onto the spline shaft (B) until the locking
device engages. The tractor PTO master shield
should be in place, and the driveline shields should
rotate freely. If the driveline has a shield restraint
chain, attach it to the implement shield. Units with
horizontal beaters have a slide lock PTO with shear
bolt protection.
The torque disconnect PTO is standard equipment
on units with vertical beaters. Remove the cross
bolt, slide the PTO over the input shaft, and align the
cross bolt hole and the groove. Reinstall the cross
bolt and torque to the value specified on the shaft.
The driveline shields should rotate freely.
6.3.5 Driveline maintenance
The universal joints on the driveline should be kept
free of dirt and well lubricated. Inner and outer tubes
should also be lubricated to reduce end pressure on
PTO. Refer to lubrication section.
Before adjusting, maintaining or repairing
the machine, perform the safety shutdown
procedure.
Try to move driveline forward and backward
to ensure that it has locked onto the shaft.
