Using Convenient Fax Functions > Polling Communication
Polling Reception
This function automatically triggers transmission of originals stored on the sending machine when the receiving
machine dials the sending machine’s number.
Using sub addresses at the same time allows the communication modes described below.
Sub Address Bulletin Board Reception
If the recipient’s machine has a sub address bulletin board function, you can use sub addresses to communicate
with that machine even if it is a third-party machine. (On this machine, the sub address and sub address
password.)
Multiple contacts cannot be specified for polling reception. If you specified a destination for which encrypted
communication is registered, encrypted communication is disabled for polling reception.
To use polling reception, you must first ensure that the sending machine is set up for polling transmission.
The recipient’s machine must also be equipped with a sub address bulletin board
function. Some fax machines cannot store originals and some do not support
polling transmission. Check both the sending and receiving machines
beforehand to ensure that they each have the required functionality.
Ask the recipient for the sub address and password that are registered in the
recipient’s machine.
