3.1 TURRET
A turret system has three main structural components:
• Lid – a housing for electronics and provides the vehicle interface mounting surface.
• Yoke – an external steerable frame that mates the lid to the gimbal and drive motors rotate the yoke in
azimuth and the gimbal in elevation
• Gimbal – the external dome that stabilizes and steers a sensor platform, measures the line-of-sight, and
protects the internal payload from the environment
