5-22 Echo Liquid Handler User Manual
For a list of available source plate specifications see “Supported labware”
on page 3-22.
Destination plates
For destination plates, the Echo liquid handler only requires the plate
specifications--where to place the sample and how much can it receive. In
the PLATE SPECIFICATION EDITOR, you can also work with microscope slides
that are held in place with an SBS-compatible holder that <16 mm in
height.
Structure of the source plate name:
No of wells + plate specs_Dest
Example 1: 384PP_Dest
(384-well + polypropylene_Dest)
This destination plate can accept sample from any Echo qualified source
plate.
Example 2: Greiner_1536HiBasePS_782096
(vendor name, which includes 1536-well + polystyrene)
In this example, the vendor name is used to describe the plate and there is
no “Dest” ending. Operators can create destination labware at any time
and adopt whatever is the most convenient convention for their lab.
Laboratories using multiple labware types should consider formats which
reduce the chance of the operator choosing the wrong destination plate, as
this creates risk of plate collision during transfer.
Note: If you are not sure whether a plate name is for a source plate or
destination plate, highlight the plate name. If the REMOVE button is
grayed out, the labware is a source plate.
