YourcomputersupportsthePCfunctionsthatPXErequires.Forexample,withtheappropriateLANcard,
yourcomputercanbebootedfromthePXEserver.
Note:RemoteProgramLoad(RPL)cannotbeusedwithyourcomputer.
AssetIDEEPROM
TheAssetIDEEPROMcontainsinformationaboutthesystem,includingitscongurationandtheserial
numbersofkeycomponents.Italsoincludesanumberofblankeldsinwhichyoucanrecordinformation
abouttheendusersinyournetwork.
Settingmanagementfeatures
Toenablethenetworkadministratortocontrolyourcomputerremotely,youmustcongurethenetwork
interfacebysettingthesystem-managementfeaturesintheThinkPadSetupprogram.Youcancongure
thefollowingfunctionsintheprogram:
Startupsequence
Ifanadministrator'spassword(supervisorpassword)hasbeenset,youwillneedtospecifyitwhenyoustart
ThinkPadSetup,sothatyoucanusethesefunctions.
Startupsequence
Whenyourcomputeristurnedonremotely,thedevicesattachedtoitstartinanorderdeterminedbythe
settingsforautomaticpower-on.
Todeneasequence:
1.OntheThinkPadSetupmenu,selectStartup.TheStartupsubmenuappears.
2.SelectNetworkBoot.TheNetworkBootsubmenuappears.Thedevicelistintherightwindowapplies
tothestartupsequence.
3.Thedevicesthatstartautomaticallyarelistedintherightwindow.TochangethetoppriorityofNetwork
Bootpriorityorder,selectanentryinthelistandthenpressEnter.
Note:NetworkBootdevicelistisaxedbootdevicelist.Youcannotchangetheorderinwhichthey
startusingF5orF6tomoveitupordown.
