Powerproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourcomputerisgettingnopoweratall,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Verifythepowerswitch.Referto“System-statusindicators”onpage8.Thepowerswitchisilluminated
wheneverthecomputerison.
2.Checkallpowerconnections.Removeanypowerstripsandsurgeprotectorstoconnecttheacpower
adapterdirectlytotheacpoweroutlet.
3.Inspecttheacpoweradapter.Checkforanyphysicaldamage,andmakesurethatthepowercableis
rmlyattachedtotheadapterbrickandthecomputer.
4.Verifytheacpowersourceisworkingbyattachinganotherdevicetotheoutlet.
5.Removealldevicesandthentestforsystempowerwithminimaldevicesattached.
a.Disconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
b.Closethecomputerdisplay,andturnthecomputerover.
c.Removethebattery.Referto“Replacingthebattery”onpage67.
d.Removethememorymodule(SO-DIMM).Referto“Replacingamemorymodule”onpage82.
e.RemovethePCIExpressMiniCard.Referto“InstallingandreplacingthePCIExpressMiniCardfor
wirelessLAN/WiMAXconnection”onpage79.
f.Removetheharddiskdrive.Referto“Replacingtheharddiskdriveorsolidstatedrive”onpage69.
g.Waitfor30seconds,andthenreinstallthememorymoduleandtheknowngoodbatteryortheac
poweradaptertotestthecomputerwithminimaldevicesattachedrst.
h.Reinstalleachdeviceoneatatimethatyouhaveremovedintheearliersteps.
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotrunonbatterypower,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Removeandreseatthebatterytomakesurethatitisproperlyconnected.Referto“Replacingthe
battery”onpage67.
2.Swapbatterieswithanothersimilarmodel,ifavailable.
IfanothersimilarThinkPadmodelisavailable,thenverifythatthebatterypackworksintheother
computerandthatthebatterypackfortheothermodelworksinthiscomputer.
3.Verifythebattery-statusindicator.Referto“Power-statusindicator”onpage9.
Apowerbuttonproblem
Problem:Thesystemdoesnotrespond,andyoucannotturnoffthecomputer.
Solution:Turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.Ifthe
systemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
Startupproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepthemwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
