Lenovo ThinkServer TD230 - Initializing the RAID Volume

•View/AddConguration:ViewingthecurrentRAIDarray,addinganewRAIDarray,orreconguring
thecurrentRAIDarray.
Note:IfyouusetheEasyCongurationtocreateanewRAIDvolume,thecurrentRAIDvolumewillbe
deleted.IfyouwanttocreateanewRAIDvolumewithoutdeletingthecurrentdata,usetheView/Add
Conguration.
TocreateaRAIDvolumebyusingtheEasyCongurationoption,dothefollowing:
1.SelectManagement➙CongurefromthemainmenuandpressEnter.TheCongurationMenu
opens.
2.SelectEasyConguration.
3.Pressthespacekeytoselectphysicaldrives.ThefreephysicaldriveswillbeshownasREADY.After
youselectone,itwillbeshownasONLINA[arraynumber]-[harddiskdrivenumber].Forexample,
ONLINA1-3denotesthenumber3harddiskdriveinarray1.
4.Afteryounishselectingthephysicaldrives,pressEnterorF10.Thearrayselectionwindowopens.
Pressthespacekeytoselectthearray.
5.PressF10,theVirtualDrive(s)Conguredwindowopens.Thefollowingtableisanexampleaboutthe
informationonthiswindow.

8.Setthestripesizeforthenewarray.Then,selectACCEPTandpressEnter.
Note:IfyouarecreatingaRAIDvolumebyusingtheNewCongurationoption,youcanalsoset
thevolumecapacity.
9.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentonishallsettings.Then,pressEsctoexittheprogram.When
prompted,selectYesandpressEntertosavetheconguration.
10.PressEsctogobacktothemainmenu.Then,initializetheRAIDvolumeyouhavecreated.See

InitializingtheRAIDvolume
ThissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinitializetheRAIDvolumeyouhavecreated.Afteryoucreate
anewRAIDvolume,itisrecommendedthatyouinitializethecreatedRAIDvolume.However,initializing
theRAIDvolumewilldeletethedataontheselectedRAIDvolume.
ToinitializetheRAIDvolumeyouhavecreated,dothefollowing:

•SelectManagement➙Initializefromthemainmenuandthenusethespacekeytoselectthe
desiredRAIDvolume.PressF10tostartinitializingtheRAIDvolume.
•SelectObjects➙LogicalDrivefromthemainmenuandthenselectthedesiredRAIDvolume.
PressF10tostartinitializingtheRAIDvolume.
2.Whenprompted,selectYesandpressEntertocontinuetheinitialization.
3.WhenyounishinitializingtheRAIDvolume,pressEsctogobacktothemainmenu.
