–Ifthisdeviceisnotavailable,disconnectthebatteriesandconnectthepositivecable
tothenegativecableinordertomakeaconductiveconnection.
–Alwaysearththeweldingequipmentascloseaspossibletotheweldingarea.Do
notlaythecablestotheweldingequipmentinparalleltoelectricalcables.
–Disconnecttheplugconnectionsbeforestartingweldingworkintheimmediate
vicinityofcontrolunits.Whendoingthis,complywiththeinformationandregulations
intheEnginecontrolunitschapter.
Painting
–Ifpaintsprayingistobecarriedout,donotexposetheelectroniccomponentsto
hightemperatures(max.95°C)formorethanbriefperiods;atimeofupto2hours
ispermissibleatamaximumof85°C.

2.Notesonpreventingdamageandprematurewearonunits
Generalinformation
–Enginesarebuiltexclusivelyfortheapplicationcorrespondingtothescopeofsupply–asdenedbythe
equipmentmanufacturer–(designateduse).
–Thedesignatedusealsoincludescomplyingwiththeoperating,maintenanceandservicingconditions
prescribedbythemanufacturer.Theengineisonlyallowedtobeused,maintainedandservicedbypeople
whoarefamiliarwiththisworkandhavebeeninformedaboutthedangers.
–Independentmodicationstotheenginewillresultinthemanufacturer’sliabilityforresultingdamagebeing
renderednullandvoid.
Equally,manipulationoftheinjectionandcontrolsystemcaninuencethepoweroutputandexhaust
emissionsoftheengine.Asaresult,thereisnolongeranyguaranteethatstatutoryenvironmentalprotection
regulationswillbecompliedwith.
–Ifafaultoccursduringoperation,determineitscauseimmediatelyandcorrecttheproblembeforethefault
cangetanyworse.
–Cleantheunitsthoroughlybeforerepairs.Ensurethatnodirt,sandorforeignobjectscangetintotheunits
whilstcarryingoutrepairs.
–Onlyusegenuinespareparts.Fittingpartsmadebyothercompaniescanleadtoseveredamage,andthe
workshopthatdidtheworkwillberesponsibleforit.Seethesectionentitled“Limitedliabilityforaccessories
andparts”.
–Neverrunaunitdry,inotherwordsalwaysmakesurethatithasbeenlledwithoilbeforerunningit.
–Neverrunengineswithoutcoolant.
–Applyasuitableinformationsigntounitsthatarenotreadytobeoperated.
–OnlyuseserviceproductsinaccordancewithMANregulations,otherwisethemanufacturer’swarrantywill
berenderednullandvoid.
