•Fitthepiston(2)overtheconnectingrod(5)as
marked
•ThinlyapplycleanengineoiltoMANStandard
3277onthepistonpin(4)
•Pushthepistonpin(4)throughthepiston(2)and
theconnectingrod(5)asmarkeduntilthestopis
reached
•Attachanewcirclip(1)inthegrooveinthepiston
(2)
•Checkthatthecirclips(1)and(3)areseated
correctly
Ifthecirclips(1)and(3)havenotengagedcorrectly,
removeandre-attachthecirclips(1)and(3),
ensuringthattheyareseatedcorrectly.
Iftheconnectingrod(5)isinstalledintheincorrect
positionrelativetothepiston(2),repeatthe
procedure.

andconnectingrodbearing
•Inserttheupperconnectingrodbearingintothe
connectingrod,positioningitusingtheSetting
tool[144]ifnecessary
•Alignthepiston(2)sothatthearrowonthepiston
crownisfacingthecentreoftheengine
•OpenthePistonringcompressorpliers[143](1)
andtoverthepiston(2)
•ClampthePistonringcompressorpliers[143](1)
•Pushthepiston(2)throughthePistonring
compressorpliers[143](1)andintothecylinder
linerasmarked
•Carefullypushthepiston(2)throughthecylinder
lineruntiltheconnectingrodbearingislyingon
thecrankshaft
