When pruning make an undercut a f ew
inch es from the trunk first. This w ill
prevent the falling limb fr om tearing
away bark from the trunk. Then mak e

do wnward cut to meet the upward cut.
Finally, after th e limb has fallen, make
a
second downward cut next to the trunk
to remove the st ub. Figure 9.

Bucking is cutting a fallen lo g into
len gt h s. Make su r e you have good
footing am stand uphill of the log wh en
