Turn
the
guide
so
the
guide
lines
are
parallel to
the
chain
as
shown
in
the
illustration.
Hold
the
guide
level
and
push
the
file
from
the
inside
of
the
cutter
being
sharp-
ened
toward
the
outside.
Extend
the
first
finger
to
assist
in
apply-
ing
pressure
during
filing.

Push
the
file
toward
the
outside
of
the
cutter
with
pressure
against
the
side
plate
edge.
Maintain
the
same
relationship
between
the
guide
lines
and
the
side
of
the
chain
and
hold
the
guide
level.
6.
Release
pressure
against
the
cutting
edge
on
the
return
stroke.
7. Continue
to
file
the
tooth
until
it's
sharp.
Do
all
the
teeth
on one
side
of the
chain
first.
Sharpen
the
teeth
at
the
same
point
on the
bar.
Then
move
to
the
other
side
of
the
chain
and
sharpen
the
remaining
teet
h.
Try
to
use
the
same
number
of
strokes
on
all
teeth
as
this
will
help
to
keep
them
all
the
same
length.
You
can
check the length of
the
teeth
with
the
scale
on the
depth
gauge
too
l.
Each
mark
on
the
scale
equals
1/ 16
inch.
