General Instructions
32 50,000-count Benchtop Multimeter
General Instructions
Introduction You have just purchased a 50,000-count benchtop multimeter with 3 digital
displays, enabling to perform direct measurements of the main electric
magnitudes. Thank you for your confidence in the quality of our products.
This instrument conforms to safety standard NF EN 61010-1 (2001), for
ordinary insulation, relating to electronic measuring instruments. For best
quality service, please read these instructions carefully and respect
operating precautions. If warnings and/or operating instructions are not
respected, the equipment and/or its components could be damaged and
dangerous for users.
Precautions and
safety measures
This instrument was designed for indoor use, in a level 2 pollution
environment, at an altitude below 2,000 m, temperature between 0°C
and 45°C with relative humidity below 80 % to 40°C.
It can be used for CAT III installation circuit measurements, for voltage
never exceeding 600 V (AC or DC) in relation to earth.
Installation
category definition
(see IEC 664-1)
CAT I: CAT I circuits are protected by devices limiting transient overvoltage to a
low level.
Example: protected electronic circuits
CAT II: CAT II circuits are power supply circuits for household or analog units that
can support medium-level transient overvoltage.
Example: household appliance and portable tool power supply
CAT III: CAT III circuits are power supply circuits that can support major transient
overvoltage.
Example: industrial unit or machine power supply
CAT IV: CAT IV circuits can support very high transient overvoltage.
Example: power input
Before use
Respect environment and storage requirements.
Make sure that power cable supplied with the unit is in good operating
condition (three-wire network: phase, neutral and earth), conforms to
safety standard NF EN 61010-1 (2001) and is connected to instrument
as well as network.
During use
Read carefully all notes preceded by the symbol.
Connect instrument to a socket with earth connection.
The instrument’s power supply is equipped with electronic protection
that can be reset automatically after a fault has occurred (instead of a
conventional fuse).
Make sure that you do not block ventilation.
For safety reasons, only use appropriate cables and accessories
supplied with the unit or approved by the manufacturer.
Do not touch an unused terminal when unit is connected to measuring
circuits.
During TV servicing or power commutation circuit measurement, high
amplitude voltage pulses on measurement points can damage
multimeter. Using a TV filtering transducer can weaken these pulses.
